Energy
and Economy
I will embrace and lead
a comprehensive energy policy that includes the
gas for your car and the electricity in your
house. Our solution to energy cannot be solved by
strangling producers with regulation or limiting
domestic supply. I believe that our solution to
energy means leaving nothing off the table. This
involves looking at three primary changes to
congressional policy:
- Start
environmentally conscientious domestic drilling
in the coastal plain of ANWR, drilling offshore
and utilizing oil shale. This
can be done safely and relatively
quickly.
- Safe and
effective nuclear electricity plants and
implementing new clean coal technologies to
combat an expected doubling of electricity
prices in the next few years.
- Expand
renewable energy choices for consumers even as
we recognize that over 93% of our energy comes
from oil, gas, coal and nuclear
power.
Jobs
and Economy
I will lead to create a
business friendly environment in Wisconsin. We
have lost our cutting edge in new business and job
creation because of all the red tape the Democrat
Congress has wrapped around businesses. Businesses
are going overseas and cutting workers and this
must stop. Not only must we increase our jobs for
university graduates but we must open up jobs
opportunity, jobs on the first rungs of the career
ladder that allow the young, new legal immigrants
and those coming off of welfare to launch a
successful career.
Wisconsin
Family Values
Our Founders could not
have said it better when they said that we have
been endowed by our Creator with life and you can
count on me to protect it. I will protect life
from your grandchild still only visible as a
heartbeat or ultrasound, to those with
disabilities, or your elderly grandma. I also
agree with the people of Wisconsin who
passed by large margins a state constitutional
amendment to protect the sanctity of traditional
marriage. I will continue to support an
America
where we strive to the goal of having our children
grow up with a mom and a dad.
Second
Amendment Rights
The D.C. v. Heller
case provides an excellent return to a sound
understanding of the American right to have and
bear arms. Wisconsin citizens use arms
for hunting, recreation, and most importantly,
self-protection and I support this American right
and tradition.
Lower
Taxes and Smaller Government
I believe that you know
how to spend your own money better than the
government. The citizens of the
2nd Congressional District are served
best by a small government dedicated to essential
needs. I will work to limit the scope of the
government and reduce the tax burden on the people
of Wisconsin.
Protecting
America
We are in the middle of
the war on terror. The current Congress has failed
to provide leadership to defeat terror activities
in Iraq so that our
troops can troops can come home knowing they have
fulfilled the steps necessary to provide for a
safer America.
Terrorists not only reside in Iraq but around the
world in Afghanistan,
Pakistan,
India,
and even within our own borders. We must win the
war on terror and continue to defend our country.
Your
Healthcare
Most of those employed
who lack health insurance come from small
businesses that have difficulty securing low-cost
health insurance for their employees. I believe
that one of the most important steps to take is to
allow small businesses to pool together to provide
greater coverage for those who lack health
insurance.
